The William Montgomery and Frances Matchett family find their roots in Drung,  County Cavan, Ireland.  The research on these pages is directed specifically  to the descendants that came to North America. They entered at New York and  settled in Huron & Bruce Counties of Ontario. Over the generations there has  been much intermarriage of the families making it very hard to sort out who`s  who. The McMichael name is an integral part of this family and the research  for those lines is due to the dedicated research of a desendant of Thomas  McMichael and Sarah Jane Driver.  In 1994, the publication `SPANNING THE  OCEAN` VOLUME I (Driver) and VOLUME II (McMichael) was released...the author  was Margery Clark Kapas of New Westminster, BC.  Without the assistance of Ms.  Kapas, the McMichael part of the research would be very incomplete.  The bulk  of the descendants remain in Ontario, with British Columbia being the second  largest contingent of the clan.
